Female Artists Make History

It is with deep gratitude and much joy that I write today to share the roster of organizations that have come together in support of a new Trumpet Concerto with Orchestra written for me by Canadian composer Vivian Fung. The co-commissioning consortium facilitating the first concerto written by a North American female composer for a female trumpet soloist has a great deal to be proud of, and I am so excited to perform this piece with each of them over the next two seasons.

Please join me in expressing special appreciation to the Erie Philharmonic, lead orchestra in the consortium and recipient of a New Music USA grant for this work. The concerto will debut in Erie on March 7, 2020, conducted by Daniel Meyer.

United with Erie in making the concerto possible are:

  • Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra
  • San José Chamber Orchestra
  • Anchorage Symphony Orchestra
  • Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra
  • San Diego State University's School of Music & Dance
  • Shenandoah Conservatory
  • Waynesboro Symphony

We will announce dates for performances of the concerto with these excellent organizations as soon as possible, and we hope soon to have additional orchestras programming it for 2022 and beyond.
