On Saturday, October 9, 2021, Mary performed the West Coast premiere of Vivian Fung's Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra with the San Diego State Symphony Orchestra at Foothills United Methodist Church in La Mesa, CA, conducted by SDSU’s Michael Gerdes.

The program opened with Samuel Barber’s “Overture to School for Scandal,” followed by the Fung concerto and finally Florence Price’s “Symphony No. 1.”

Gerdes and SDSU were part of the co-commissioning consortium that made the Fung concerto possible.
